Previous Options - From December 11th, 2025 Public Open House

Public review and comments on these options resulted in the development of the preferred option presented at the January 21st, 2026 meeting.

Qualitative Public Input on Amount and Type of Shooting Facilities

At the December 11th, 2025 open house, shooters provided input on the type of facilities that were likely to get the most use, and the number of shooting positions for them. This was used to reduce the facility to 300 yard, 100yard, and 25 yard ranges.

Qualitative Public Input on Access to the Shooting Range Area

At the December 11th, 2025 open house, attendees provided input on the strengths and weaknesses of fully separating the range from adjacent uses, or providing opportunity for direct connection.

Preferred Alternative

Based on the previous meetings and stakeholder discussions, this option was developed as a refinement of previous options. It only provides 300 yard, 100 yard, and 25 yard ranges, in addition to areas (cells) for action/practical shooting. Each area includes adjacent parking for access convenience.

Sound Mitigation

A previous post included information on Strategies for Reduction of Noise, this slide provided the relevant facility design options

Terrain as a Factor in Sound

This exhibit was used to discuss the importance of terrain to help block sound. The example shown is for a location where existing topography helps to block noise. The project team noted that there are areas (such as toward 17-Mile Lake) where the topography does not do this, and emphasized the importance of on-site berms or other features to reduce noise as close to the source as possible.

Project Timeline

Pending securing funding, construction would occur in 2027 at the earliest.
